Boycott the World Cup!
Originally bid for and sold to the great unwashed as a summer World cup.
A tiny country with little or no sporting or football heritage.
At least 600 immigrants (slaves) have died constructing the stadiums.
An undemocratic country with a terrible human rights record that persecutes minorities.

We all know it's about money, a totally corrupt decision that I will not endorse or take part in.
F@ck FIFA!

Personally i'm looking forward to it, the weather is going to be bleak, so its a good option to have. Shouldn't mix politics with Sport

Enjoy watching your heroes taking the knee and wearing rainbow flags whilst they promote the Quatari regime and corruption at FIFA whilst lining their own pockets.
Biggest load of hypocritical bullshit ever.

Can't imagine it's going to be a classic either so I won't miss
watching England managed by the boring Waistcoated WOKE mascot.

Re: Boycott the World Cup!
They say that you remember the World Cup nearest you 10th birthday as the best. Well I was 9 when we won the World Cup and a year later went to my first West Ham game. No idea what the correlation to that was but there you go.

Anyway, I have always looked forward to the World Cup, excited even. But this year, nothing. Fuck the whole sordid corrupt tournament. I'm as far away from woke as you can get but even I can't stomach what has gone on in terms of human life and suffering to put on a fucking football tournament.

I also worked in the middle east, Saudi, for nearly 3 years in the 80's and you couldnt pay me to go back to any of the shithole countries. Good luck and no judgement on those that do watch but I wont be and I dont think I'll miss fuck all.

Is there a list of sponsors anywhere for this tournament? Both the games as a whole and individual nations/items (Balls sponsored by CAMRA, for instance).

Be self-satisfying, even if ultimately futile, to stop using/buying their products.

Re: Boycott the World Cup!
I want a completely random country from the also-rans to take everyone by surprise and win it. Just to fuck up everybody's best laid extremely corrupt plans.

We all know that the Quataris will want Messi to complete his fairy tale career and lift the damn thing before he retires.

If not they and most others will probably be quite happy with Brazil winning it again.

I feel the same way. My earliest memories of my father were sitting on his lap watching the world cup. I've always watched every minute of it that I could muster. 94 was my first in-person world cup, and it was completely exhilarating.

This year there is no joy in it for me. Never thought it would be possible to suck the life out of the world cup.

My first WC was Spain 82 when I was 9 and a half! I spent the summer holidays there because my Dad is Spanish and they pretty much stunk the place out in their home tournament.

So yes your theory made sense. I did love Mexico 86 as well but everything after Italia 90 has felt like the law of diminishing returns.

It was great to see Spain win one at last and the couple of Semi Finals for England but each one that passes seems less important to me.

I must be getting old

If any of you think modern football is shit then this tournament encapsulate all what's wrong.....get it built in a shithouse country for human rights, kill a load of people building it then don't pay those that survive.....just to state not to bring politics into football so you can watch it......

Re: Boycott the World Cup!
Probably should to be honest.

But looking forward to this more than any World Cup since I was a little kid, for obvious reasons.

You CAN bring politics into football, but only the "right" type of politics.

After having George Floyd and taking the knee rammed down our throats I haven't heard a peep from Southgate Sky FA or the Premiere league on how bad Quatar's history on human rights stinks like Sepp Blatters underwear ...
I see that the Redknapp family are also cashing in on this farce !!!

I'm with Brentford feck the world cup and feck Southgate and the FA......

I think the Yanks are going to make the Southgate face look even more forlorn and gormless than it does already.

I've felt it in my water for months now...

Re: Boycott the World Cup!
I loved WCs with ridiculous kick-off times.
Remember being up after midnight watching WC'86 games.
Getting up very early to watch 2002.
At least this tournament has 10am kick-offs.

This has to be off-set with Qatari officials saying things like homosexuality is 'damage in the mind' & the utilisation of slave labour to host the tournament.

Will players wear rainbow flag armbands & bootlaces?
